Flower Piano
Flower Piano: San Francisco’s Most Musical Garden Party
San Francisco Botanical Garden transforms into an open-air concert hall for one of the city's most whimsical and beloved events: Flower Piano.
Flower Piano invites visitors to discover twelve beautifully placed pianos tucked among the gardens of Golden Gate Park. Whether you're wandering beneath towering redwoods or lounging in a sunny clearing, you'll encounter everything from jazz and classical to pop and experimental music — all in a lush, living landscape.
Music Meets Nature
This unique, interactive event draws over 20,000 people during its 10-day run and has become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. In addition to scheduled performances by world-class musicians, the pianos are open to the public during select hours — so you might even sit down and play a tune yourself.
The result? A serene, photogenic, and surprisingly moving experience that merges artistic expression with botanical beauty. It's part music festival, part meditative retreat, and 100% San Francisco.
When You Go:
- Scheduled performances take place across the garden each day
- Early mornings and golden hour offer the best lighting for photos
- Admission is included with entry to the Botanical Garden
- Picnics are welcome — bring a blanket and soak it all in
